One of the defining directions in our 2026/27 Trend Forecast, Terra Forma explores the evolving relationship between architecture, materiality, and our innate connection to nature. Inspired by the Latin words for earth and form, this trend represents a powerful balance between the structural demands of the built environment and the human desire for spaces that feel authentic, grounded, and enduring.
Terra Forma draws influence from the sculptural presence of Brutalist architecture, where bold geometric forms, raw concrete, and exposed infrastructure highlight the honesty of construction. But unlike traditional Brutalism, this direction is softened through organic materials and biophilic elements that introduce warmth and tactile depth.
Reclaimed wood, recycled materials, matte surfaces, and earthy textures define the palette, creating a utilitarian aesthetic that celebrates raw beauty and material integrity. Strong architectural forms are balanced with natural elements, resulting in interiors that feel both powerful and deeply connected to the earth.
